This will be useful for both the Playground app as well as for a
standalone CLI tool (à la clang-format). It cannot handle comments yet
(and will drop them from the formatted output), but other than that it
produces valid GML that matches the formatting we have so far! :^)
This was mentioned in #4574, and the more I think about it the more it
feels just right - let's move it there! :^)
Having to link LaunchServer against LibGUI explicitly should've been
telling enough...
This patch replaces the UI-from-JSON mechanism with a more
human-friendly DSL.
The current implementation simply converts the GML into a JSON object
that can be consumed by GUI::Widget::load_from_json(). The parser is
not very helpful if you make a mistake.
The language offers a very simple way to instantiate any registered
Core::Object class by simply saying @ClassName
@GUI::Label {
text: "Hello friends!"
tooltip: ":^)"
}
Layouts are Core::Objects and can be assigned to the "layout" property:
@GUI::Widget {
layout: @GUI::VerticalBoxLayout {
spacing: 2
margins: [8, 8, 8, 8]
}
}
And finally, child objects are simply nested within their parent:
@GUI::Widget {
layout: @GUI::HorizontalBoxLayout {
}
@GUI::Button {
text: "OK"
}
@GUI::Button {
text: "Cancel"
}
}
This feels a *lot* more pleasant to write than the JSON we had. The fact
that no new code was being written with the JSON mechanism was pretty
telling, so let's approach this with developer convenience in mind. :^)
This patch introduces the HeaderView class, which is a widget that
implements the column headers of TableView and TreeView.
This greatly simplifies event management in the view implementations
and also makes it much easier to eventually implement row headers.
Refactors the Calendar widget into LibGUI and updates the Calendar
app interface. Calendar widget lets layout engine manage most of
its geometry now and has a few new features like tile click
navigation, hover highlighting and a togglable year/month mode.
Moves ProcessChooser and RunningProcessesModel to LibGUI and
generalizes their construction for use by other apps. Updates
Profiler to reflect the change and use its new icons.
ControlBoxButton consolidates the paint_event for buttons
used in composite box widgets like ComboBox and SpinBox. Its
button bitmaps are built with create_from_ascii like WindowFrame
and ScrollBar controls, making theming more uniform.
Widgets can now opt in to emoji input via set_accepts_emoji_input().
If the focused widget accepts emoji input, we'll pop up a simple dialog
with all the available emojis as clickable buttons.
You can press escape if you change your mind and don't want an emoji.
This UI layout definitely will not scale as we add more emojis, but it
works for the moment, and we can adapt it as we go. Pretty cool! :^)
