All users which relied on the default constructor use a None lock rank
for now. This will make it easier to in the future remove LockRank and
actually annotate the ranks by searching for None.
We ensure that when we call SharedInodeVMObject::sync we lock the inode
lock before calling Inode virtual write_bytes method directly to avoid
assertion on the unlocked inode lock, as it was regressed recently. This
is not a complete fix as the need to lock from each path before calling
the write_bytes method should be avoided because it can lead to
hard-to-find bugs, and this commit only fixes the problem temporarily.
Instead of requiring each FileSystem implementation to call this method
when trying to write data, do the calls at 2 points to avoid further
calls (or lack of them due to not remembering to use it) at other files
and locations in the codebase.
Each of these strings would previously rely on StringView's char const*
constructor overload, which would call __builtin_strlen on the string.
Since we now have operator ""sv, we can replace these with much simpler
versions. This opens the door to being able to remove
StringView(char const*).
No functional changes.
Rename the bound socket accessor from socket() to bound_socket().
Also return RefPtr<LocalSocket> instead of a raw pointer, to make it
harder for callers to mess up.
Previously we were uncaching inodes from TmpFSInode::one_ref_left().
This was not safe, since one_ref_left() was effectively being called
on a raw pointer after decrementing the local ref count and observing
it become 1. There was a race here where someone else could trigger
the destructor by unreffing to 0 before one_ref_left() got called,
causing us to call one_ref_left() on a deleted inode.
We fix this by using the new remove_from_secondary_lists() mechanism
in ListedRefCounted and synchronizing all access to the TmpFS inode
map with the main Inode::all_instances() lock.
There's probably a nicer way to solve this.
We now use AK::Error and AK::ErrorOr<T> in both kernel and userspace!
This was a slightly tedious refactoring that took a long time, so it's
not unlikely that some bugs crept in.
Nevertheless, it does pass basic functionality testing, and it's just
real nice to finally see the same pattern in all contexts. :^)
Because we were holding a strong ref to the OpenFileDescription in
LocalSocket and a strong ref to the LocalSocket in Inode, we were
creating a reference cycle in the event of the socket being cleaned up
after the file description did (i.e. unlinking the file before closing
the socket), because the file description never got destructed.
This commit moves the KResult and KResultOr objects to Kernel/API to
signify that they may now be freely used by userspace code at points
where a syscall-related error result is to be expected. It also exposes
KResult and KResultOr to the global namespace to make it nicer to use
for userspace code.
Prior to this change, both uid_t and gid_t were typedef'ed to `u32`.
This made it easy to use them interchangeably. Let's not allow that.
This patch adds UserID and GroupID using the AK::DistinctNumeric
mechanism we've already been employing for pid_t/ProcessID.
Advisory locks don't actually prevent other processes from writing to
the file, but they do prevent other processes looking to acquire and
advisory lock on the file.
This implementation currently only adds non-blocking locks, which are
all I need for now.
This patch modifies InodeWatcher to switch to a one watcher, multiple
watches architecture. The following changes have been made:
- The watch_file syscall is removed, and in its place the
create_iwatcher, iwatcher_add_watch and iwatcher_remove_watch calls
have been added.
- InodeWatcher now holds multiple WatchDescriptions for each file that
is being watched.
- The InodeWatcher file descriptor can be read from to receive events on
all watched files.
