This will make it easier to support both string types at the same time
while we convert code, and tracking down remaining uses.
One big exception is Value::to_string() in LibJS, where the name is
dictated by the ToString AO.
We have a new, improved string type coming up in AK (OOM aware, no null
state), and while it's going to use UTF-8, the name UTF8String is a
mouthful - so let's free up the String name by renaming the existing
class.
Making the old one have an annoying name will hopefully also help with
quick adoption :^)
Otherwise, we end up propagating those dependencies into targets that
link against that library, which creates unnecessary link-time
dependencies.
Also included are changes to readd now missing dependencies to tools
that actually need them.
Fixes inconsistencies in redrawing the wallpaper when in stretch mode by
first drawing to a backing bitmap. To reduce unnecessary allocations,
the backing bitmap is only used for stretch mode.
We previously put the generated headers in SOURCES, which did not mark
them as GENERATED (and did not produce a proper dependency).
This commit moves all generated headers into GENERATED_SOURCES, and
removes useless header SOURCES.
URL had properly named replacements for protocol(), set_protocol() and
create_with_file_protocol() already. This patch removes these function
and updates all call sites to use the functions named according to the
specification.

When the location currently displayed in FileManager is removed, find
the nearest existing parent path and open it in the window.
Without the fix, the FileManager window remained in the deleted
directory.
Changing the path in 'DirectoryView' object will automatically update
other components in the FileManager (breadcrumb bar, directory tree
view).
Use Breadcrumbbars on_segment_change instead of on_segment_click.
This allows us to remove the manual handler invokation in the
open_child_directory_action
This mirrors the "open parent directory" action, but traverses the
breadcrumbbar segments from left-to-right instead. The name is a little
bit strange, and maybe we can come up with something better.
It does feel pretty nice to use though. :^)
Commit 75d1840cf detects if the initial path provided to the FileManager
contains a dotfile, and if so, forces the FileManager to show dotfiles.
However, it does this by activating the "Show Dotfiles" action. This has
the side effect of always setting and persisting the configuration,
overriding whatever the user's preference was.
Instead, only transiently update the view to show dotfiles if the path
contains a dotfile.
This patch replaces the concept of fixed resizees with opportunistic
ones which use the new SpecialDimension::OpportunisticGrow UISize.
This lets us simplify splitter resize code and take advantage of
the layout system's automatic calculations for minimum size and
expansion. Functionally the same as before, but fixes Splitter's
unintended ability to grow window size.
This prevents us from needing a sv suffix, and potentially reduces the
need to run generic code for a single character (as contains,
starts_with, ends_with etc. for a char will be just a length and
equality check).
No functional changes.
Each of these strings would previously rely on StringView's char const*
constructor overload, which would call __builtin_strlen on the string.
Since we now have operator ""sv, we can replace these with much simpler
versions. This opens the door to being able to remove
StringView(char const*).
No functional changes.
Processes spawned by FileManager (e.g. through double-click) now set
their PGID to that of the session leader. It allows the filemanage
instance to be killed without propagating the signal to the new process.
Upon DirectoryView selection change, check for write permission before
enabling delete and cut. This disallows attempting to delete/cut and
paste a file that you don't have write permission to by using keybinds.
Fixes#13983.
Similar reasoning to making Core::Stream::read() return Bytes, except
that every user of read_line() creates a StringView from the result, so
let's just return one right away.
This converts the return value of File::read_link() from String to
ErrorOr<String>.
The rest of the change is to support the potential of an Error being
returned and subsequent release of the value when no Error is returned.
Unfortunately at this stage none of the places affected can utililize
our TRY() macro.
Function-local `static constexpr` variables can be `constexpr`. This
can reduce memory consumption, binary size, and offer additional
compiler optimizations.
The WindowServer _really_ does not need to know the filesystem path to
it's wallpaper, and allows setting arbitrary wallpapers (those outside
of `/res/wallpapers`).
The GUI::Desktop will keep track of the path to the wallpaper (if any),
and save it to config if desired (to be persisted).
This avoids the need to `unveil` paths to the wallpaper, fixing #11158
Now that the GML formatter is both perserving comments and also mostly
agrees to the existing GML style, it can be used to auto-format all the
GML files in the system. This commit does not only contain the scripts
for running the formatting on CI and the pre-commit hook, but also
initially formats all the existing GML files so that the hook is
successfull.
This stops these actions from being activated with Ctrl+[1,2,3] or the
command palette.. Switching to table or columns view would just hide
all the icons, so let's not make those options available.
Pressing the F2 key on files that the user doesn't have permission was
opening the file name for editing.
This patch fixes the issue disabling the file name editing when the user
doesn't have permission to do it.
To reproduce the issue:
1) Open the File Manager
2) Click on the /etc directory
3) Select any file
4) Press the F2 key
5) Update the file name
