This patch adds the new DynamicWidgetContainer for the right panel
elements. This allows the user to collapse, expand or even detach
widgets to a separate window. The collapsed or expanded state is
persisted so that they are restored after application startup.
With this change it is possible to shrink the size of widgets to a
minimum in order to give more space to other currently important
widgets.
Fixes apps showing redundant error messages and terminating
unnecessarily on failed file requests. It's nicer to drop the
user off at the equivalent of a default document on failure if
possible.
Also fixes TextEditor not showing response errors for missing files
in the recently opened list.
The pattern to construct `Application` was to use the `try_create`
method from the `C_OBJECT` macro. While being safe from an OOM
perspective, this method doesn't propagate errors from the constructor.
This patch make `Application` use the `C_OBJECT_ABSTRACT` and manually
define a `create` method that can bubble up errors from the
construction stage.
This commit also removes the ability to use `argc` and `argv` to
create an `Application`, only `Main`'s `Arguments` can be used.
From a user point of view, the patch renames `try_create` => `create`,
hence the huge number of modified files.
This is not guaranteed to always work correctly as ArgsParser deals in
StringViews and might have a non-properly-null-terminated string as a
value. As a bonus, using StringView (and DeprecatedString where
necessary) leads to nicer looking code too :^)
These functions return the deprecated `Core::File` class, so let's mark
it as such to avoid possible confusion between future non try_*
functions which will use Core::Stream family classes and to possibly
grab someone's attention. :^)
Rip that bandaid off!
This does the following, in one big, awkward jump:
- Replace all uses of `set_main_widget<Foo>()` with the `try` version.
- Remove `set_main_widget<Foo>()`.
- Rename the `try` version to just be `set_main_widget` because it's now
the only one.
The majority of places that call `set_main_widget<Foo>()` are inside
constructors, so this unfortunately gives us a big batch of new
`release_value_but_fixme_should_propagate_errors()` calls.
Commit #3197c17 introduced a session based clipboard portal.
This made pixel-paint fail to launch, because it had an unveil that
used the old path to the clipboard. This commit fixes that and now
unveils the new session based clipboard portal.
This is a partial revert of commit 7af5eef. After 97d15e9, the 'proc'
promise is not needed for operations using getsid().
This also fixes launching several applications in which 7af5eef added
the 'proc' promise only in the second call to pledge().
This commit does three things atomically:
- switch over Core::Account+SystemServer+LoginServer to sid based socket
names.
- change socket names with %uid to %sid.
- add/update necessary pledges and unveils.
Userland: Switch over servers to sid based sockets
Userland: Properly pledge and unveil for sid based sockets
Each of these strings would previously rely on StringView's char const*
constructor overload, which would call __builtin_strlen on the string.
Since we now have operator ""sv, we can replace these with much simpler
versions. This opens the door to being able to remove
StringView(char const*).
No functional changes.
pledge_domains() that takes only one String argument was specifically
added as a shortcut for pledging a single domain. So, it makes sense to
use singular here.
With this change, System::foo() becomes Core::System::foo().
Since LibCore builds on other systems than SerenityOS, we now have to
make sure that wrappers work with just a standard C library underneath.
Use the newly added API in FileSystemAccessServer to get read-only
access to a file specified on the commandline. We no longer need to
unveil any image / .pp files on the filesystem :^)
Depending on the size / scaling of the UI, someone might want to
change what the threshold is to show the pixel grid. For instance
if you are working on a 50x50 image, and want to see the grid while
still fitting the whole image in the editor.
Since there's no UI for settings in PixelPaint right now, this
commit just uses LibConfig to read the following entry:
("PixelPaint", "PixelGrid", "Threshold")
which is then used when drawing the grid.
Previously, all the UI setup was done in `main.cpp`, with a whole
bunch of lambdas,, and actions etc just being stored in the main
function. This is probably an artifact from back when it was first
created.
Most other applications now have a "MainWidget" class of some sort
which handles setting up all the UI/menubars, etc. More importantly,,
it also lets us handle application-wide events which we were
previously not able to do directly, since the main widget was just
a default GUI::Widget.
This patch moves all the core functionality of the PixelPaint
application into PixelPaint::MainWidget, which is then instantiated
by the main function. There is likely some more refactoring that
would help, but this commit is big enough as it is doing mostly
a direct port.
This new class will open and parse files (either images directly or .pp
project files) and one can get the parsed Image as well as other
information from it.
This patch removes a bunch of 'try_create_from..." methods from Image in
favor of using the ProjectLoader.
The only json_metadata that is available are Guides for now.
The ImageEditor knows more about the image than Image itself. So to save
a project with all the information known to the program about an image
it's logical that ImageEditor performs that task rather than the Image.
There isn't any additional data added yet, but now there's the
possibility to do so.
This also required adding a new hook to `ImageClient`, since there
wasn't a way of telling the ImageEditor that the full rect of the
image has changed (as when we rotate).
